can anyone recommend a source for monentary switches? preferably somthing a little better than what i'm currently using, radio shack buttons and they're not hold up well in my race car. The buttons are used to power on/off an in-car cam and start recording. The in-car cam setup doesn't tie into the car, it's a complete separate systems.

I bought really good guitar pedal switches here. Nice breadboards as well.

Think Inside the box first and if that doesn't work..
Re-arrange what's inside the box then...
    Think outside the BOX!

    Hi,

It is hard to recommend without knowing how much current your switching.

Try Digikey (www.digikey.com) They have a good selection of switches.

Automation Direct has some great industrial Push Button switches. Long life, hard to kill, replacable contacts and a good price.

current is not a problem, everything is power off of 2 AA batteries. it's more about the mechanical durability of the switch in a harsh environment of dirt track racing.

    Dakota -

If the problem you envision is that of dirt infiltration into the switch (regardless of the exact type which you don't mention), you may want to consider using a rubber boot over the switch. That will make it dirt, dust, and weather resistant.

    Hi,

If you can afford the space, the Automation direct Push buttons work good in a harsh environment.
they need a 22 mm hole, and about 3-4 inches behind the panel.
You also experience high vibtastion levels.
I would Loctite the switch components.
It may be hard to remove, but it will not come apart in turn 3 either.

    Good Luck
