SX18AC questions

Hi all,

I don't know much about the SX chips (I've been hanging around in the Propeller forums).

I have found some SCENIX Chips for what seems to be a good price. I can't seem to find any info on them apart from replacement part numbers.
Can someone tell me:
1) How easy it is to make a programmer that doesn't involve starting with a PIC programmer. (I can't seem to find any others)
2) what the following chip numbers are and where I can get a data sheet
SX18AC/DP
SX18AC/DP-O
SX18AC-I/DP

Thanks.

They are basically the same as the SX20. You can program them with the SX-Key or SX-Blitz. If they are REALLY old you may need an old version of the SX-Key IDE (there was a timing change somewhere along the way).

P.S. Found a datasheet... Here it is...

    Cheers Bean.

Does anyone know what the SX18AC-I is as compared to sans I? The datasheet doesn't seem to mention this.

This would have been the Industrial version.

    Bean,

Do you know when that timing change occured? In other words, do I have to worry about that? (I have a lot of SX18's that I bought from Parallax about 18 months ago
    )

    John,

I think you are okay so long as the date code starts with the letter "A", which indicates production versions.
    You have
    AB9942AC
Which means is a production part manufactured in the 42nd week of 1999. Older parts would have a simple date code like 9818.
