Is it toast?

Working too late last night, I accidentally provided 7.65V of AC to the 9V terminal of the BOE for a few seconds. This morning, I used what was left of a spent 9V battery (about 7V). IDE said it didn't detect the Javelin. Did I fry it?

Probably.
I use a series diode (1N4007) on my own boards to
protect against reversed connected power supplies.

Peter,

Thanks for the insight. I suppose it doesn't matter that I using it on a BOE board? If I use the diode, how would I connect it using that board?

You can make a little adapter with a dcplug like the one on your dc adapter,
and a socket as on the board, and mounting the diode inbetween.
adapter dcplug -> socket -> [diode anode
diode cathode] -> dcplug -> board socket
If you then happen to insert an AC adapter instead of DC adapter, the diode
will block the negative halve of the AC power.

Hello,

The problem is that Vin goes directly to the Module on the BOE. It doesn’t go through the BOE 5V regulator. In any event you can get a ½ price replacement by contacting our Tech Support Dept. Take care.
