VGA and Graphics

Newbie alert:
I've been trying to get my head around the propellers graphic abilities in VGA, but for now its a little bit too complicated. Is there a thread in the forums for using the vga and graphics object together? Are there any "hello world" type programs that would display a few shapes like the graphics demo for the tv?
