The Parallax Propeller web page has a link to an English firm selling a Propeller module with built-in USB to serial.· Price is about $75 + shipping.· Not sure if that includes VAT.

    Paul,
is this prod the same as what came up in this thread
    http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=609602

I just realized that this one is not "branded" as "from" Parallax but, from DLP.

    thanks in advance

    ALIBE, good eye!

Paul, I will wait for the official Parallax product. Any idea when we might be able to expect it?

I just found out what the target date is, but Im going to decline providing it. This is our general policy since we've been burnt many times in the past by exhuberantly providing a target date, only to anger people when we can't deliver. I will say that we are waiting on the delivery of the stock and final processing, so it should be weeks not months.

The parallax description appears under 'third-party tools' to have a·significant error - it describes the module as being on a 0.6" pitch, but the DLP-PROP is documented to be on a 0.9" pitch (and it looks like this as well). At 0.6" I would have felt a lot more tempted to use it.

It's also interesting that they use a 6MHz crystal, expecting clocking to 96MHz.

Here's the description of the DLP-PROP from DLP's main web page www.dlpdesign.com/:

October 2006: DLP Design is pleased to announce the new DLP-PROP module. It uses the new Propeller™ chip from Parallax, Inc., 4th-generation silicon from FTDI, and is lead free. The DLP-PROP has an on-board 3.3V regulator, standard 40-pin, 0.6 inch footprint, EEPROM for program storage, and is compatible with the new Spin™ development environment from Parallax.

Yet the attached datasheet says it's 0.9 inches wide. Looks like you'll need to ask DLP which one is correct

Both could be true. The board itself looks like it's about 0.9" wide. You can't tell where the pins are since they're surface-mounted on the bottom; but they could easily be on 0.6" centers, leaving a 0.15" overhand on each side.

The PCB is 0.9 inches wide and the header pins are 0.6 inches wide such that they will fit perfectly into a standard 40-pin DIP socket.· This module will be available from Mouser ELectronics any day now.· They have already received the inventory·and have it on their website:·
