I want to make an OBD(On Board Diagnostics) II trouble code reader for a car, thes a 19 pin connector that connects to the reader, or scanner and it retrives information like if your check engine light is on. is will read it and display on the monitor

P101111 and you can look that code up for a specific model and make and see what it is thats the matter with it.... i would buy one but they are expensive.... ranging from 50-to 1000's of dollars. anyone thats done this just reply and tell me! thanks

    Google ELM electronics.
They sell a cheap RS232 to OBD2 protocol converter that can be easily interfaced to a stamp.

I've picked up the ELM and tested it with a stamp, but never did get around to getting the OBD2 connector for my Jeep.
ELM sells different IC's for the different types of OBD2 (Chrysler vs Ford)....

    cheers
