In the demo board schematic (Rev.D), am I looking at the back of the keyboard / mouse connector, or the front?

You are looking at the front - the same view you get when you look at the Demo board.

Yes, unfortunately Parallax did NOT include pinouts on their schematic.

I had to view MiniDIN connector data sheets to confirm the pins. The pins on the Demo board connectors should have this pattern (ignore the periods; editor won't keep multiple spaces):

    ...6..5
    .4......3
    ...2..1

Building my PS/2 adapters worked the first time. A good feeling.

    Harley, you mean like this?

     6 5
    4 3
     2 1

Yep, just spaces, not other characters.

But, without having to use the quote box scheme. The editor isn't a WYSIWYG type I'm used to (Mac'er since '84).

I'd used it before, but couldn't recall how to get there. Old memory cells are shot!

    Thanks for the reminder, Paul.

    Thanks folks,

That'll explain why my PSU LED dims when I connect a mouse or keyboard!

Not sure if numbering on the schematic would've helped me -- as my sockets don't appear to have any numbering on them :-(

Anyways, I'll re-solder them tonight and see what happens.

    Simon,

I found verification of pin numbering from KobiConn data sheet on Mouser web site, www.mouser.com.

Look at page on part# 161-2206 for the miniDin, equivalent to what the Demo board uses. It shows the pin numbering.

I had to go to several different vendors to verify this. Would have help several of us if the Demo board had numbered the PS/2 connector leads.yeah.gif

Hmmm, wiring-up the correct way around got my mouse working (on either port, with code changes), but my keyboard doesn't respond. In fact it's 'num lock', 'caps lock', and 'scroll lock' LEDs just keep blinking -- any ideas before I try another keyboard?
