USB hookup problem

OK...
I hook up power and USB, I throw the switch, lights come on, I connect output to aTV, a low-res graphic show is displayed automatically, so far so good.
Then I load a program and compile it and the darned program tells me there is no Prop on any COM port.
Well, duh. It's on the USB hub.
Question: How do I inform the Prop tool its looking at the wrong bus?
