Internal and External EEPROM

Can anyone tell me what are the advantages/disadvantages of external EEPROM (built into microcontroller) and external serial EEPROM?

    On the SX the internal Flash memory cannot be written to at run time, so you would need external EEPROM to store any run time values you needed saved in NV memory.· I hope this helps.
