On page 273 of robotics with the boe bot, zones are disuscussed, and a statement is made:·
Zones 1-4 typically fall in the range of 6 to 12 in (15 to 30 cm) for the shielded LEDs with a 1
kΩ resistor.

MY QUESTION:· Is this 6 to 12 inches for each zone or zones 1 - 4 take up a 6 to 12 in distance all together?

    Zones 1-4 are the 6-12 inches inclusive.· If not that would indicate the IR having a range of at least 4 feet, which it does not.
