  For a brief time there was a 100MHz SX chip, but it didn't last very long. I beleive they were the same chip, just tested to work at 100MHz.

  Bean is correct, the 100MHz parts were speed bin version of the same chip, speed higher than 75MHz can be used (XGS runs at 80MHz i believe), but additional cooling measures are either nessesaery or strongly recomended depending on the individual chip and frequency.

  Yup, I remember them. I was rather surprised at the 100Mhz when it came out....

  I've still got a couple of the SX52/100s, but I'm keeping them for myself for an as yet undisclosed super duper skunkworks project. Speeeeeeeed is addictive in the world of 8 bits. Very very addictive.

  Actually, the SX28AC100 that's shown in the picture was only sampled and never sold. The 2KB die just couldn't handle 100MHz very well... It needed a huge heat slug in the bottom of the package to run at that speed. The SX48/52 die was designed for the higher speeds, with tweaks to the program memory cells to get a bit more speed.
  
  I kept a bunch of SX28AC100's if anyone is ever interested in them. I know Farnell actually sold them at one time, but they shouldn't have as they they were only samples...
