Does plexy effect IR?

Im building my own chassis out of plexi glass, or lexan I can't remember what it was. But anywayIm deciding on the position of my IR emmiters and recievers and I was wondering if they are required to be outside the plexi for reliable operation

    Yeah, there are likely to be some problems if the plexiglass is between the IR components and the objects the robot is trying to detect. I would either leave holes in the case for the IR LEDs and detectors or mount them outside the case.
