Applying the basic stamp to control an R/C car
Hi,
I have a radio shack r/c car. Its got twin motor's and proportional
control. For right now I want to use the basic stamp to just make it
move around. The I would like to put GPS on it. I am 15 and just
doing this for fun. I anyone has any tips please help.
Thanks,

I'm also trying to control my R/C car, from my computer. I bought a book
last week, "Linux Toys", and chapter 14 is on "Controlling Toy Cars". In the
book the authors bought a controller board, LynX-PORT multipurpose I/O
board, $239.
The book says the board gives them eight programmable DPDT relays to control
the toy cars. My guess is I can create the DPDT relays with my Basic Stamp
and my StampWorks NX-1000 board, that I already own.
I'm new in the eletronics field, so I don't know where to start. Saturday I
went to the RadioShack and I bought their Electronics Learning Lab, on sale
for $49, and I'm on page 26 in the Forrest Mims workbook, "Resistors and How
to Use Them".
Looking for help .....
Steve

you can control the rc car very simple. i used the 434Mhz transmitter and
receiver found at www.rentron.com
but parallax has one also. the rentron reciever has a decoder chip that
has 8 digital and 8 analog outputs.
i used an old Gaming Joystick, and it had two slide potentiometers inside.
just by using RC time if the resistance got to a specific level
the car would just turn left right forward or reverse. i used an H bridge
to control the motors. the only difference in my car was that i used 2
BS2's one as the transmitter and one on the recieving end so that i could
control the servo. and i put some futuristic police lights on the car. hope
your project works out. Gary D
