Serial eeprom to stamp2sx

how do I interface a stamp2sx to serial eeprom or sram. I have tried using shiftin/shiftout to no avail. I'm sure it must be simple. The chip I am trying at the moment is a 24LC02B. Thanks in advance for your brain power.

That's an I²C part. Have a look at this Nuts & Volts article for how to use I²C with the BS2sx:
