Just curious as to what happened to Rich. Have not seen hi post in quite some time.

    While we're on the subject, do any of you know where the call sign W9GFO came from? Most seem to think it is his own HAM call sign. No cheating and using Google... :tongue:

    Rich discussed how he got the call sign. He simply requested it!

    Call me slow but a quick search for W9GFO soon leads me to the movie "Contact".

    Probably the most stupid thing I have ever seen.

    Orson Welles' radio drama back in 1938 was much better.

    Now, as a kind of "in joke" that is cool. I worry that people start to take this stuff seriously. As they did in 1938 by all accounts.

    When I first saw his name on this forum, I thought it had to do with W2 vs W9 tax forms and one of them getting the expletive out.

    There was a conversation just like this one not long after.

    It wasn't that bad of a movie Heater... The call sign represents other things, like family values, following your dreams, technology, bigger antennas, all good stuff.

    The one I found on YouTube was just a lot of gibberish about aliens.

    Content removed? It shows up fine for me on QRZ.

    Anyhow, still here, just reduced forum activity over the last few months. Most notably when we put a new roof on the house. Long days, rain, heat - kinda forgot about the internet there for a while. Still haven't quite acclimated to this new forum either.

    I'll have to check my settings, I would have thought that I would be notified via email when getting a PM.
