One thing I've noticed is bizarre automatic formating done by the forum software. It will occasionally add unnecessary line breaks in the middle of sentences, or add 4 or 5 line breaks when 2 would have been sufficient. Some links open in the same tab, though most open a new tab. It often changes font size for no apparent reason from one paragraph to another within the same post. It all seems to be very random and inconsistent.
Allowing someone (who really wants to) add white spaces is not a bad thing. However, adding extra lines the user did not ask for, or changing fonts, is a bad idea.
I think it would be wise to limit blank lines between text lines to one. That's all it takes to delineate paragraphs, and there really isn't a legitimate use for multiple conterminous blanks lines that I can think of.

I concur.
Oddities in post formatting and allowing excessive whitespace has been added to the issue list.
