  Just a straightforward if somewhat bulky serial LCD, just feed it 9600 serial data.
  
  I make 20x4 LCDs with a flush surface-mount backpack that aren't any bigger than the LCD modules itself. My 4-line LCD is FSTN (better) and has a strong amber backlight and also has built in "big digits" too etc.

  I have a few of them (with them same 2.5 firmware) but I prefer the serial displays from Newhaven http://www.newhavendisplay.com/
  You can also get them from Jameco
