Ah, thank you! And for a special project today, what?, a crock of s... Yes, a class of students from the alternative agricultural technology program is putting together a composting tea system, which involves a 55 gallon drum full of water, with a large bag of organic material suspended within, said material preferably from goat, llama or horse, mixed with sugary molasses waste or similar sweetener and hay. This mix needs to be aerated, so I am helping them with a solar panel, battery, controller and 12V aeration pump. (This system is not for small apartment dwellers!)
Oh, I do wish for a traditional 4-egg cake later in the day!
Want to freak out those kids a bit? My father (combination preacher/plumber) was singing the old spiritual, "This is like heaven to me." one day when he was working his day job. He kept getting really strange looks, until he realized the combination of the song and the sewage "lift station" he was working on at the time.
One of the main ingredients of the witch's brew turns out to be nitrogen fixing bacteria, added in the form of root nodules from plants. They go into high gear in the aerated mixture, with sugar energy and other raw materials to produce a nitrogen rich organic fertilizer. They also added a dollop of fish emulsion (fish are an alternative). The guy who runs the program is very scientific about it and expresses distain for "hippy farmers". Anyone for the recipe?

I hope this is all legal, else I have to remove the entire thread!

Sounds like a great alternative to phosphorus and oil-based fertilizers.
I'll have more information on Saturday and will write out the recipe. The class is getting together to show off projects. I hear they will have goats present and, I hope, accounted for. We covered the solar panel cable with a heavier split loom tubing just in case.
Jim, I see your point. I assure you that the recipe is 100% noble intentions. I think when Ren
No, but my wife is southern Italian, so we have a lot of fava around, pasta fagioli. Not yesterday though. We got together at a Thai place, green papaya salad to start and a dish called spicy noodles. I'm a big fan of peanut sauce and basil.
