Ok ive been thinking about playing with those nokia displays, Id really like to use one on a frequency counter. Those things are alot more slick than a little lcd display. This got me thinking that it might be nice to have a little more portable of a display than a vga monitor... I know there are lots of good choices, Raymans deal on those touch screens with a breakout board is pretty darn good :).

I just found an old zune i had that stopped working a while back, I took it apart and got it working for a few minutes and it crapped again, I eventually figured out it was the hard drive and the replacement mini drive just wasnt worth it. But the zune had a really nice display very crisp and its just going to waste it was one of these models http://images.macnn.com/esta/content/0806/zune80-music.jpg the display is a pretty decent size just a bit shorter than my 3.1 inch android screen. How hard would it be to get something like this connected to a prop? I know just trying to connect laptop panels to things doesnt really work becuase they need special driver chips, is it the same kind of deal with lcd displays like the zunes, or old smartphones? Ive just seen alot of diffrent LCDs about smart phone size connected to uControllers so maybe this is doable?

I'm sure it's doable, but it may be hard... First step is to try to find a datasheet for the display.
Without the datasheet the problem is harder...

Many MCUs, such as some PICs, have direct drive circuitry for LCDs. You probably need something like that to operate that display. If that is the case, it could be implemented with discrete logic, but it probably isn't worth it.
