Any fellow prop developers in the area? A couple of us are thinking of setting up a regular co-located development meeting time at the local hackerspace. PM me or just reply here if you are interested.

I would consider coming if the time/date were right for me. I'm in Madison quite often.

I've received 3pm's about it and I know at least two people locally that are interested. I will attempt to coordinate, but for now we could use this thread as a chance to talk about a project that we could work on together.

My suggestion is a Hydra based arcade cabinet, but my feelings won't be hurt if someone has a better/more interesting idea.

I'm in madison and would be willing to meet up. Not sure that the hydra would interest me though.

More like 2 hrs, although this is better than where it used to be held.

If it's like the one two years ago, it's definitely worth the trip. I'm sad I couldn't make last year's. I had a great time the year before.

If the Madison group needs any special support from Parallax to get rolling please don't hesitate to ask. We could easily pack up some QuickStarts, send some sensors, etc.

GAH! getting closer. I would love to attend (I live just outside of Eau Claire), but I'm not so sure I would be willing to do the 6 hour drive to get there.

*sigh* looks like I'm still stuck without a "Nerdaholics Anonymous" support group.

Might be interesting infusing the local hackerspace with the Propeller, assuming something comes of this.

Sorry for the delay everyone. It definitely seems like we have enough people to schedule something.... at least as a one-time event, possibly more often for us local folk.

I'll talk with the lead guy at Sector67 (Madison hackerspace) sometime before Monday to see what our options are and what dates would work well for them.

Ken, some boards/sensors to help equip the group sounds great. I'd be happy to give you a call to discuss further, just let me know what time works for you.

@pattywac - ring me Friday at Parallax 916 624 8333 and ask for ext 5610 (5510 is where I am the first half of the week). I have an assortment of meetings throughout the day, but I'm available about 8:30 am, 2:30 pm (Pacific). If we can't connect then drop me an e-mail kgracey@parallax.com and tell me where to call you. Tell me how we can assist and we'll just do it!

    Hey everyone,
Just waiting to hear back about a couple weekends in April. I'll let you know more when I do.

Sorry for the delay everyone, April ended up being no good. After talking with Sector67, we agreed on the following dates/times:

    Start: May 5, 2012 @ 10am
    End: May 6, 2012 @ 1pm

Where: Sector 67 (2100 Winnebago St, Madison, WI 53704)

What to bring: Caffeine, any extra hardware/electronics you want to use, and a Propeller based board if you have one to use for the weekend.

We are modeling the event after the Global Game Jam ( http://globalgamejam.org/ ) which we have helped set up for the past few years in Madison. This means that everyone, from all development skill levels, is invited to attend and work with others on a Propeller based project that can be completed in the 27 hours we have together.

At the beginning of the event (now referred to as the Prop-Jam) we will have approximately 30-60 minutes for everyone to meet and talk with each other about their experience with the Prop, experience in creating electrical and mechanical components, and what kind of project they would like to work on. During this time the goal is to find people with similar project ideas and come up with something that can be worked on together (ideally in groups larger than 1 and smaller than 7). The following 25+ hours will be for project development and the occasional break for food/caffeine. (We will work on sponsors for both, but cannot promise free food/drinks at the moment)

At around noon on Sunday everyone will stop working on their projects and each group will present on what they have created. This is not a formal presentation, but will allow you to tell everyone about what your original idea was, how it changed while you were creating it, and any development tricks that you picked up. We will attempt to wrap up by 1pm on Sunday so that everyone has time to drive home and sleep away the caffeine deprivation.

I will be setting up an online signup form in the next day or so (as soon as I find a good free one) and will post the link here.

Ken Gracey has generously agreed to send some boards out for everyone to use, but depending on the size of the group and how fast people short them out this might not be enough. When we get closer to the event and we have a good estimate on attendance I will be able to give some more specifics, but if you have a personal prop setup that you could use for the weekend it will be a good thing to bring with.

Let me know if you have any questions,
    Nathan
