  Thanks Bruce for your concern. I'm ok and the skyscraper in which this lab resides has developed small cracks but overall appears ok. Immediately at the end of the quake I heard a very loud metal crashing sound outside the window and it took me a few moments to realize it was the neighbors house and the metal roof dislodging! It appears he is ok in all the commotion but the roof will need some work.
  
  ElectricAye, did you see the eyes of the man at the left of the skull in the photo? Now that's very intense.. Of course you're right about the Brain needing a hard outer skull and it will be considered. Thus far, the EXOskeleton, which has delicate components on the outside, is safe. If it toppled, the topmost airport landing pad would get the brunt of the impact.. This location is a kind of earthquake capitol of the world. Additional parts of the Big Brain experiencing the quake are: Propeller Array Partitions, Propeller siblings, and the Right Brain.

  Thanks Paul. Reports are just starting to come in. There's some damage to structures and buildings but no reported loss of life.
  
  The first idea that comes to mind is the Brain could be encased in an air bag. The air compressors from the Brain's Micro Space Program are already on hand. It may be a matter of just sewing a self sealing material with a big bladder in the shape of a Big Brain.

  I was thinking the same thing. Just what sort of brain doesn't have a tri-axis accelerometer implanted in its frontal lobes?

  The Big Brain is versatile. It has a multi axis accelerometer hosted on the EXO Guest Board and a second accelerometer is used in its Micro Space Program which was instrumental in discovering and exploring Micro Space Zero G. A post in the Big Brain thread described one of its special features and usage. The guest board can determine vibration and earthquake when calibrated, functioning as a real time "streaming data" seismometer with alarm. The type of vibratory wave is output as sound data through an adaptive piezo speaker which counts out ticks during an actual event. Any Guest board hosted by the EXO tower is in the Frontal Lobe as it was the first foreground installment of the Big Brain's Propeller assemblage and Quad Braining structure.

  The USGS shows only two recent earthquakes near Taiwan: one on Monday way south of the island (4.6) and one much closer to Taipei (also 4.6, and the one now being exhibited in Humanoido's blog):

  I noticed that too - the USGS is missing data. I thought they would update but it never happened. They do have a request for (civilian observers) to report earthquakes.
  
  There's a report for the 19th in Taiwan blogged from the news. The time is different from when the epicenter (10 miles deep) hit and the wave hit here. It's a 30 minute flight by air (175 km) from Hualien.

  A magnitude 4.7 earthquake has struck Taiwan at a depth of 16.5 km ( 10.3 miles), the quake hit at 14:01:09 UTC Tuesday 19th July 2011. The epicenter was 0 km (0 miles) South East of Hualien, Taiwan. No damage or injuries reported at the time.

  The Brain survived a 4.7 which is reassuring. The neighbor was yelling a lot. I think he lost his roof. There's some older structures not exactly sound located in between new skyscrapers. They are first to go in lesser quakes. I'm now a veteran to earthquakes. I remember one that flattened me to the floor, violently shook the skyscraper as I was flung about in the room and feared being tossed out the window to meet a death many stories below. Some windows have iron bars - maybe this is the purpose... Because there are so many quakes here, the buildings standing are already proven to survive their numbers. Usually after a large quake, the cracks in the skyscraper bring about a time period of remodeling and repairs.

  That was for the 19th of July, 2011. Oddly enough, the epicenters shown on the map, dated 22 Jan 2012, coincide with the quakes reported on 16 Jan and 21 Jan 2012. Nothing from last Thursday, though.

  Thanks for the correction note. I'm told they have so many earthquakes here that unless it a big one or people are injured, it goes unnoticed. It looks like the Big Brain could record and issue its own earthquake reports for events magnitude 5 and less.
