  Was there another version? My board has a mini USB port next to one of the serial ports.

  I believe the other Professional Development Board (the one with the mini USB) is for the Propeller chip, not for the Stamp. That manual is

  There was actually another version of the Basic Stamp/SX Professional Development Board that did include USB. It was the REV C version and the schematic can be found here. The USB circuit is on page 8. There was some weird anomaly with the FTDI chip's circuit and the serial circuit on the BS2 that could cause issues, so it was removed on future versions.
