MMEA multiplexer

I need a device to take 5 MMEA (GPS and other devices) outputs and multiplex them to a USB port (or just a RS232 port). I would rather build one then buy one (unless it's cheep to buy.) I have a few STAMPSII sitting around with nothing to do.

I have been off the forum for a few years and realize this has probably already been hashed out but if any one can direct me to a tread or project page it would be very much appreciated.
