GITHUB just got cheaper (maybe)

Got an email this morning from GITHUB, stating that they are starting a GitHub Free plan including private repositories and were changing a number of different subscription rates to about half on some other plans. Wonder what is up or where they will be making it up from. They have even stated that there will be a partial refund on the remaining portion of the yearly subscription.

Where is everyone going instead ?
  • I’ve paid nothing for github, but I only have public repos.

I bet they have found an alternative funding system.

I'd think GitLab, mostly. and Bitbucket to some degree. I like the former, for it is partially open source (paid features aren't) and has had unlimited private repositories for a long time already. Also nice built-in CI system with artifact storage.

I only have public repos as well. I'm not sure I'll even change that now that unpaid accounts can have private repos.
