    How can a PID be open-loop?
  • Right - PID itself is based on feedback, but maybe folks are referring to measuring something else (IR or Ping) vs. the effector they are actually driving with the loop (the motors). From my controls understanding - PID is necessarily a closed loop. Sure it can be mixed with a feed-forward model, but that's beyond this I think?
