Interesting article about "droids" - delivery robots - rather than drones being proposed for deliveries.

What a waste of time and money. Robots could be used for so many truly useful things, like patient care, automated mobility, or if they really really really insist on package delivery, inside an office building, under a more controllable environment.

The article makes note of the economic viability of robotic package delivery in urban settings only. Don't know what "urban settings" the backers are familiar with, but in the bustling cities I know of, any droid will last exactly one day on the job. Forget ATM crime -- nab a droid and you get the packages it was delivering, plus the robot to sell to some foreign "freedom fighters."
