Can the Hydra accept the snes gamepad?

Hi,

I was wondering, since the "super" nes gamepad is shifting out 16 bits serially (and the regular nes gamepad·sends 8 bits)·could·the snes pad·work with the Hydra without making any changes in the Propeller firmware?

I haven't received the unit yet, but·I was·assuming that the gameports are ready to plug and play with the demos, out of the box. (Or does all of this (setting up the ports)·have to be programmed first?)

Thanks,
Tony

    Hi Tony,

Yes you can connect a snes pad, it has nothing to do with the propeller firmeware.
You only need a new driver for it^^

Here you can find a driver for it:

(NES Controller Object, there is a snes-pad-driver too)

I just went through the sample chapter 6 in the Hydra book, about the nes controller, I was curious to know if the book contains more info about how to set up/program the hydra ports to accept controllers?

Reading the code for the existing nes gamepad would provide the most useful information.

Thanks. Are you referring to code that is contained in the Hydra book, or the "driver" code in the "object exchange"

(I haven't received the book yet, was just wondering if it was in there.)

    Thanks again.

Yes both the book and CD have example drivers for the gamepad.
