How to display Chinese characters of the propeller 1 micro

I have been thinking of a project that would require Chinese characters on either a VGA monitor or a custom LED panel, has anyone done this or have any information how to proceed ?
I am using the propeller micro 1

Ok, then.

The propeller can put out English characters easily because it has a font built in inside of the chip(read only memory). They would need to be stored in an external memory. Could you tell us more about your setup, what board?

Get a Chinese bitmap font (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Unifont).
Most Chinese chars will be 16x16 pixels, so use one of the VGA bitmap drivers (http://obex.parallax.com/projects/display) or modify a VGA text driver to display the characters
