Is it possible to single-step a prop1?

Hi Prop-fiends! long time no see :-)

Question regarding stepping:
We have the internal clock.
We can attack an external crystal.

Using a 555 timer, or signal generator, or some other mechanism... is it possible to get a propeller to slow down to a few hertz... or even stop / resume?

Thanks,

Red

The Prop is Static CMOS, so yes, you can clock from an external clock, of any speed slower than Max. Right down to DC.

If you look at Propeller™ P8X32A Datasheet 8.0 CURRENT CONSUMPTION CHARACTERISTICS, you can see values graphed down to 100Hz, & below 1kHz there is little reduction in current.
That is at 3.3V, but if you are clocking very slowly, you can drop Vcc down.

Some more Vcc/Icc figures in this thread...

I wrote a debugger (LMM_debugger) that is capable of tracing/single-stepping a PASM or SPIN Cog. IIRC it's in the OBEX.
