Pocket Watch Module Versus DS1302 chip with crystal

What is the difference between the pocket watch module and DS1302 chip with crystal when connecting to BS2?
For simply tracking time of day is there a difference?
Is the current date/time already in the units?
During a power failure, does one have to reload current date/time?
Which requires less code to interface?
Is there a better choice than the two mentioned here?
Would like to hear feedback from those of you who have used either of these or another date/time option.
Thanks.

·· The DS1302 has a battery backup (and charging) feature, the PWB does not.· So during a power failuer you would have to reset the PWB unless you created some sort of backup system for it.· Other than that they're pretty straight forward.· You can find example code and a template for using the DS1302 at the following link.
