Current Draw Code and Hardware

is their a strategy to use when building projects.
some of the shortest code seeems less of a memory hog, if the varibles are kept low,
would this reduce current draw, regarless of mainRoutine cycles? would baud rate increase?
any benefit from using less memory on board.

Not really; the only way that your program affects current draw is in the way it controls the IO pins (which could be driving current consuming devices). You might consider downloading and reading our "What's A Microcontroller?" book -- I think you'll find it quite helpful.
