Ultrasonic Proximity detector circuit, Need Help please

I'm currenly trying to make a proximity detector with a 40 khz
ultrasinic transmitter and 40 khz reciever. The reciever is made of
two op-amps. One is a comparator. I don't have a logic probe and need
to know if the output pin reaches a "HIGH" state when it detects
ultrasonic sound. Any Ideas? Or any better circuits.

one of those, they are available for as low as 5 dollars, or just put a
resistor and LED on the output and you have just made a logic probe for
about $1.

that a simple LED won't display a single logic spike, but certainly for
on/off situations, or at least 10% duty cycle pulses, you should see
something. Don't have any bright lights on in the room though.
