Frequency Tripler

Someone, within the last week or two, asked about simple ways to double and
triple frequencies in the RF range... I noticed a Circuit Idea on page 140
of the February 2001 issue of Electronics World (UK) titled "CMOS Tripler
Needs No Adjustment" that would likely fill the bill. It describes a simple
L/C bandpass filter that extracts the third harmonic of an applied square
wave at 10MHz, then sends it to a CMOS gate for wave shaping. The result is
a clean 30MHz square wave. To use this circuit at other operating
frequencies, it would only be necessary to re-scale the filter L/C values.

I'll transcribe the published schematic for the interested party if
necessary. Just send me a request by private email...
