Dear BASIC Stamps and Stamps in Class list members:
For customers interested in Boe-Bots there's a new draft text available for
download: Robotics Version 1.3 at www.stampsinclass.com (downloads tab).
This text makes many improvements over our previous version. Key
improvements:
- Proper assembly instructions using the new BOE Rev B (with servo ports)
- Navigation by whiskers
- Programming the Bot for simple movement
- Object detection with infrared (no '555 timer required now)
- Distance determination with frequency sweep
- Making one Boe-Bot follow another
- Edge detection
- What to do when you are stuck in a corner
The text is currently only available for download - only a few hundred
printed copies will be in stock next week.
The "Free Hardware" Part of the Subject Line
This is a draft text. As usual, we will provide some free Parallax hardware
to customers who help us improve this text. Our educational customers have
no time or interest in implementing a text with even minor errors, so it
needs to be perfect (this also saves some time for our tech support crew).
Unfortunately we are certain there are small errors in the text - with 200
pages they may creep in the text.
To qualify for a free BS2-IC or BS2SX-IC, send us your list of corrections
to stampsinclass@p.... Entice us with your list of corrections,
and no nitpicking single details for free BASIC Stamps, please. Give us a
list of corrections and suggested improvements and we'll send you a BASIC
Stamp. Of course, we reserve the right decide whether or not your list
qualifies for free hardware. Trust me - we're fair with this part!
