Where do you get a threads ID to reference it in another thread...

I looked everywhere and can't figure out how to get it.

I'm thinking about posting a blog and was wanting to reference a thread so that anybody that might read the blog could go look at the thread.

so how'd you do it?

I always just cut and past the URL in the address address bar.

For example, this thread is:

Maybe there's a better way?

Or if I click on the blue "Where do you det a threads ID to reference it in another thread..." at the top of the page right after "Thread:" it takes me to this URL

http://forums.parallax.com/showthrea...another-thread...

Which also works as a link.

If you want to link to a specific post, just get the number of the post by hovering over the "Blog this post" icon in the lower left of the post and get the number from the taskbar or popup that shows the link. A "Blog this post" link will look like this:

http://forums.parallax.com/blog_post.php?do=newblog&p=1065683

The number at the end is the post number. With that, just make a link that looks like this:

http://forums.parallax.com/showpost.php?&p=1065683

and it will take you to the exact post with the number. This works great when you want to reference something in a really long thread.

Or, just right-click on the post number and select "Copy link location" (or its equivalent) in your browser.

I didn't know exactly what the Blog this Post would do.

If I right click the post number (the little #X at the right of the blue bar), I get Copy Shortcut....I'm guessing this is the same thing.

I right click on the post number and choose "Open in New Tab". I then copy the URL from the address bar of that tab. I just noticed the "Copy Shortcut" option last night. I might try that next time.

I think IIRC the "Blog this Post" button opens a new blog page with the text of that post in a quote box. It's a lot like "Reply With Quote". You can try it and then cancel the blog post.
