Thread: ATT Text-to-Speech Website

    Default ATT Text-to-Speech Website

    http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

    Just found this website that takes your text and speaks it back to you in seventeen different voices & accents. Fun to play with, and I assume ATT uses the latest algorithms for the most natural speech available. For free, anyway. Beat that, TI Speak & Spell and Speakjet!

    It's not just fun to play with - you can also download the wave files to use in your own projects (for non-commercial use).

    I have an AP-16+ in the mail. Could this utility be used to create wav files for it? I am pretty much in the dark about this stuff, but need to learn.

    Thanks!

    @Bill
    I have a robot I'm building. To do audio I have the prop play wav files from a uSD card onboard. I used the ATT site to make the sound clips. They play without any problems.

    Thanks! I will use that site to start. I also need to figure out how to create wav recordings using my own voice. (Not that my voice is better than the "girl" at the ATT site! )

    Bill - I wish u luck with your endeavor! For a similar project I have jingling around in my head I've collected some decent text to speech links:

    http://cepstral.com/ (came recommended from a guy i trust on Hackaday, has many diff voices)

    Thanks Erco!

    This is a perfect solution to another project rollin' about the grey stuff.

    Here is a link to some pre-recorded text for just about anything you want. I use the Quadravox QV305 board and the 4 minute chip in my submarine project. Simple serial interface to play any of 256 .WAV files. work great and the quality is super good.
