no basic stamp found

yes, an another.

my old basic stamp is not found by the computer. i have read and follow all advices about this problem and i try to resolve this by myself. and i fail

i have win XP family edition service pac 2, an Board of Education Development Board - Serial Version and a BS2 (the green one)


i have tried with 3 différents power supplies : an RC car battery (7.6v), an new 9v alkaline battery for paintball gun (1100mAh), and an AC 6v power supplie

i have try some combinaison with the com port. i have one but i change the setup on the program

i have fomated the PC because i belive on the start it is a problem with windows

i have try with two COM cables

i have try with electronics connected and with no electronic connected

i have try with différents version of the program 1.1, 2.2, 2.5

i have disconnect the stamp with his board and re-put in this place

in all case :
1°)the green light on the board is turned ON (no a timid light)
2°)the servo responding and positionning in the middel course when i connect them with the servo controler (supposing it is the old program in the stamp)
3°) the lookback and the Eccos are YES
4°) the syntax is checked
5°) "no basic stamp found"

so, the stamp is stored since two years without light and dust. it is possible it be ice-colded, but i don't believe it.

could you tell me wath happening..

What does it say when you click on "Run" and "Identify"? If you have a multi-meter please measure:

Vin to Vss =
Vcc to Vss =
Rst to Vss =

Let me know what the measurements are?

i have no multimeter, i take one from the work next week for measurments

Are you able to remore your port directive? If so, this most likely what is causing the issue.

did you mean remove the line "$port COM1" in the program ?

i try, and the stamp is not found, but the message is different :

just "communication error no stamp found"
eccos and loopback are yes.

the try was done with a new battery

What version of Basic Stamp editer are you using

the last test was done with the 2.5

measurments done

try with a 7.5 v RC car battery

Vin to Vss = 6.05 V for the second measurment, but first measurments was 7.5v i don't undestand why the value change, because nothing change (same battery, same connection)

Vcc to Vss =0.669 v
Rst to Vss = 0.033 v

The Rst should be 5v. This is likely the issue. Where did you purchase the BASIC stamp from?
