Why do you think Parallax will only produce a board akin to the BOE? In the second post on this tread Chip stated that Parallax will.. make a little module with the Prop2, Flash, crystal,...

I agree...it could work well with both the consumer and 3rd party board markers
I like Chip's design...it looks good for prototyping and leaves finish product designs for 3rd party. The best of both worlds
Great news...thank you! I cannot wait until the boards are ready...the prop 2 is going to be a great product...thank you (and everyone at parallax) for the hard work
I just was watching the video from the conference...the prop II looks awesome...
I have a quick question...Chip was showing a 32 mb board...Will that board be made available to the public when the...

I know..for an outside vendor (not parallax) to sell a complete board for under $50...would be a tough task. I do not know the answer. When I look at the options/available boards $35 to $45...

I agree 100%...A lot has changed in just one to two years time...the market has many..many..many options. With great prices! I remember 5 to 6 years ago when chip first asked if the...

I was thinking in terms of 25% (profit) margin...All your costs would be covered and included in the margin. The 25% would be pure profit.

25 percent margin on chip boards...forget about it! The market has too many high power boards that are cheap. I know that the prop 2 is a different animal, but why would someone pay that...
I agree with TinkersAlot...it all comes down to price..price..price...price...price...price. If the Prop II boards cost around $60-80, forget about it! People will buy very few props II and keep...
Please...please have a simple QuickStart type board from parallax for the hobby market...

Am I missing something...Andre got it to work...the chameleon board uses spi and does exactly what is being described in this post
I agree with bill...price is a BIG issue...you can get a raspy berry pi for only 25 to 35...if the board cost more than $50...I start looking at other options
cool...when the board is plugged into the USB charger or pc...is there a 5v power supply port available...VIN?
looking at the schematic again...what is the USB-PWR-EN port...is that just a 5v power supply when the board is connect to the usb port (PC or charger)?
great info...I was not sure if the USB phone charger was 5V regulated or if the phones had 5V protection circuits.
tony
thank you for the reply...so (most likely) my usb phone charger that plugs into the wall is a regulated 5v supply? The reason I ask is because...I remember (in the past) hearing that wall...
I am looking at the schematic for the quickstart board and have a few questions
1. the 5v VBUS...is that 5v regulated? Can you take the VBUS and use that as a 5v power supply for a 5v device...

Thank you for the help...I am not sure I fully understand the your response about 'ground' and common connections. I thought ground was ground, but as long as I am able to use two power...
Thank you for the help...However, if I decide to run two power supplies (one for the PIC24 and one for the propeller) I just need to connect both grounds (vss)...Correct? I could use two power...
I just started looking a the Chameleon-PIC...How is only a 500mA regulator possible on the board? Doesn't the propeller alone draw 300 mA and I am guessing the PIC24 draws that much or more? ...
Thank you for the answers...I have some basic questions about the max voltage ratings..
As an example, let's say, a board has the 3.3v regulator and the regulator is rate at 500mA MAX. Could a...
cool...Now I see the other additional 5V holes near the regulator (looks like about 4 holes) and the ground holes to the left...thank you for your help
I have an old propeller proto board #32212 (not the usb type). I am going to using it with a 5v microcontroller (MEGA32). Can I power the MEGA 32 from the +5 hole on the proto board? Is the +5...
I have been working through the numbers...If I use a tile map (16x16)...I could increase my resolution back to 256x240 and use a 14 bits palette system. Each tile palette could be chosen from 4...
