My supplier for the 4.3" "used" touchscreens has about 1000 new 3.5" units that were never used...

Could be a nice chance to save them from the landfill...

Took a quick look at the datasheet and they appear very similar to the 4.3" units, but have an additional SPI interface.  Not to happy about needing extra pins, but perhaps this interface allows additional functionality...

Update:  Now for sale!  $10 each (+$5 shipping within USA)

Email ray@rayslogic.com with your order...

If you have money, buy everything, because if not sold today will be sold tomorrow.

Two important things:
- Do these LCD come with processor / memory integrated?
- The price. Less than $5? :p

What is the pixel resolution? 320x240?

Can you post the datasheet?

Depending on the price, I am interested in a significant quantity of these displays.

don't have one yet, but it looks like the same 60 pin connector that the 4.3" units have...

This one looks to be more difficult to use though...

You need to supply +18 and -10V for the gate voltage as well as +5V for analog logic.
Also, you have to supply 6 capacitors.

So, it's more difficult.  Have to see if the price point makes it worthwhile...

This apparently needs more control Pin and three voltage converters.
If the LCD has a module, maybe your supplier can give those parties, together with the connector. It would be a great savings.

And the plastic box with the brand erased. smilewinkgrin

At least you do not have to provide all the gamma correction voltages... (I have such a module, a very nice 800x600 6" panel).
Two (maybe one) MC34063 can provide both potentials.

Here's a single chip solution for the voltages:

http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps65120.pdf

Unfortunately, it's QFN, not one of my favorites, and with tiny pitch too... :(

Hopefully, I can find something similar in an nicer easier to solder package...

Good News!  Price looks like it could be in the $10 range!

Also, got a green light on the datasheet, so here it is:

The qfn is not a problem but the breakout would cost more making it almost the same price possibly more then the 4.5" display

24 bit LCD Breakout Board now in. $21.99 has backlight driver and touch sensitive decoder.

True, but these are brand new displays. Also, the 4.3" maybe too big for some applications...

The one thing that the datasheet doesn't seem to expand too much on is the meaning of all the registers you can set via the SPI interface...
Hopefully, we can figure out what they all do... I'm hoping they will let you do things like change scan direction so you can rotate the display more easily...

Google found this C code with some SPI commands to initialize the display.
The controller IC seems to be a S6F2002, but I don't find a datasheet.

All in all this display is much more complicated than the 4.3".

C code: tomoyo.sourceforge.jp/cgi-bin/lxr/source/drivers/video/backlight/ltv350qv.c
Register definitions: tomoyo.sourceforge.jp/cgi-bin/lxr/source/drivers/video/backlight/ltv350qv.h

I saw something about one register allowing to switch from DE mode to sync mode... I'm hopeful that that will remove the need for a DE pin. I think that will make the pin count the same or close as with the 4.3" units...

Sounds like an interesting display. It probably would interface well with the Chameleon-Pic since it has 2 user definable SPI interfaces.

Will work for Propeller parts!

Just got word that 100 of these displays have been shipped to me!

Again, these are very interesting because there are ~1000 brand new ones available for a very low cost...

If anyone wants to help develop a breakout board, let me know...

mctrivia: Ok, I'll send you a couple when they come in...

Was looking at TI power chips again yesterday... The QFN16 ones that look like the best fit.
Probably should check out what other companies are selling too...

Just got two boxes of 50 units!

They do indeed look brand new.

It does appear that the same 60-pin connector I've been using for the 4.3" units will work with these too...
(rather convenient).

The FPC cable is a bit on the long side, compared to the 4.3" units.  It's also much thinner and without ground plane.
I think that's because it doesn't have any components on the FPC cable...

I've just put these displays up for sale on my website for $10...
Haven't made a breakout for them yet, so I don't have any way to test them.
But, they are brand new, so that's not so important...
Hope to have a prototype breakout board in the near future...

Rayman,

Is there any documentation on the 3.5" LCD yet?
