Other than my AutoProp8 discussions I have not seen much on OSD's lately.
This is a modification to Bean's OSD to show some of what it can do.
Uses LM1881 or LM1883 and 2 pins (0 & 1) that you can modify.
It is monochrome.
If you look closely at the solid bars, you can see the overlay video does not completely override the background video !
Use full for heads up displays for robots or UAV's
Bean gets most of the credit.

Earl

BTW: That background is NOT a reflection. It is the camera video I an OSD'ing !

I was thinking on how to control my trackbot remotely with only one display, I think your overlay project is just the solution I was looking for.
The camera I am thinking about http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=MINI-WIRELESS-CAM&cat=VID

Yea, that camera will work.. They sure are getting the price of these things down.
I am looking for one similar but on 900 mhz or 1.2 ghz because my ground telemetry is on 2.4 ghz via XBee.

Just answered my own question. Same site has a 900 mhz one for $32. Cant beat that !
Remember, these cameras are not the greatest resolution but for our use......

You are right, but to get the project completed I think it will be fine. I can always upgrade to a better video system.

Dang shipping is killing me...$10 FedEx. I must have spent $300 in the past 90 days on shipping for all the different stuff I ordered.

$7.00 for 5 day or $11.00 for 3 day shipping.
3 day UPS is the best for my buck here, The UPS guy is always on time 2:00 PM daily. My mail is rough here, always at least 1 or 2 days behind.
Not to say the mailman is on time, it's just that it seems that I have a new postman every week!
    I can't wait 7 or 8 days for something like that !

    Earl,
Do you like better, the Xbee or the EB500,
I have the EB500 that I plan to use, I was just wondering witch one you like better?
For ease of use, larger range, more features ? Or do you just prefer one model over the other ?

XBee because I know how to use them and have the development system !
BTW I cant seem to find the EL1883 in an 8 pin dip package. Looks like we will have to settle for the LM1881 in 8 pin dip.

I need someone to draw an artificial horizon and a moving compass display for the OSD.
I have gyro and accelerometer data and gps heading data.
The G and A data runs from 350 to 750 with 500 about middle.

I'm not so good at the artsy stuff !

    Any takers ?

    Here is my crude try....

Here is some more progress with real data on screen. Camera is pointed out window.
If you are above 10 feet in altitude that part of display is off.

Everyone did notice what direction home is right !
    Hint: ohm

    Here is the latest code...
I guess I should change the name as there is no artificial horizon in this version !

I like it! Don't "improve" it for about a day, until you get some more inspiration. I know I get tired when my flywheel spins too fast (let the puns begin) ...
