Robot Arm and Control Software in VB

Made another update on my robot control and simulation software written in visual basic. I'm including some screenshots of the program. Added a new "statics" feature to compute stresses in the arms and moments about the various joints (in kg.cm) on the arm with different loads at the end-effector. Still working on the robot design in Solidworks. Need to find a good aluminum fabricator to get the parts made.

I've posted a video on youtube showing my VB program in action:
www.youtube.com/aaqilkhan

If you're interested in previewing the program, let me know and i can send you a copy.

    good stuff!
i had a recent project-presentation at my school, and they had a robot (like 26 servos or something)
    awesome stuff. have a look:
maybe you can make a VB program to point and click to move the robots ;)

    thanks warrlok,

already seen lynxmotion robots. they were kinda pricey and i wanted somethign bit more powerful with better control options, so i decided to build my own with high torque servos from hitec (upto 20kg.cm). i can control my robot arm accurately with my control application which i wrote in VB. next i m planning to incorporate zigbee for remote wireless operation of this robot.

You can obtain much better designed arms here:

    www.crustcrawler.com

All aluminum construction with the capability of lifting 14+ ounces. If you have your own electronics and servos the arm is only $279.00 Also, if your going to find someone to fabricate a "one up" for you, I guarentee you your cost will easily be over 1k. Metal fabrication companies are interested in production runs and "1-ups" as they like to call them are pricey to make up the difference of running 50 - 100 units at a time. Buying an arm is the most cost effective option.

    ROBOTICS VIDEO :)

    Hi everyone,

I've had overwhelming requests for the VB code for my robotic arm both on this forum as well as thru private msgs. I've tried to accomodate as many requests as possible. I will try to email the others (if i left anyone out).

Anyways, I finally finished building the robot arm except for the gripper. Currently working on the gripper design. Anyways, heres the video of my robot and software in action.

    www.youtube.com/aaqilkhan

    Remarks are welcome :)

Could you send it to me one more time as we have switched over to a new system and we have lost your original program. Also, we would like to send you an arm at N/C for further development of your software. Please e-mail me for hte details.

    Thanks,

    Alex Dirks.
