Optascope Activity #1

The text for activity #1 says to set the Trigger Source to "None".· This isn't an option; only Channel 1, Channel 2, and External.

It also says "drag the arrow to the left of the Plot Area to set the trigger voltage."· I assume it meant to say "to the right"?

Figure 1-17 shows the Horizontal set to 200us instead of the expected 5ms and the Trigger Settings box in the upper right is set to "CH2".· Is this correct?

That does seem to be a·bit of sloppy writing.· You're right, there is no 'none' setting on the trigger, but since you're measureing a + DC voltage with the trigger mode to 'AUTO', it doesn't really matter what the trigger source is set to.· On "auto' the trigger will trigger itself either on a edge transition, or after a short period, and since the signal you are observing is static, it doesn't really make any difference exactly when the signal is capured.··It will always be a straight horizontal line.

You are also correct, the trigger voltage is set on the right side of the screen.

With Figure 17, again the settings could be what you suggest (and would be more clear to someone just starting out) but I think the point of the exercise is to observe the +5 V signal, which looks the same regardless of these settings.
