Hello everyone: I think it would be interesting to read about robots built
from stamps.
Would people care to write some letters to the list about robots they have made?
Just a thought,seemed like an interesting topic to have going for a little
while.

Most of my bots have been stamp based. You can check my site:
http://www.verinet.com/~dlc/botlinks.htm for some details on them. Also,
we have a club on Yahoo, The Robotics Club of Yahoo, TRCY that has designed
our own Stamp II based robot from OEM Stamp chips. Its called TRaCY and
has a PC board with I/O ports and a built-in IRPD circuit. The kit comes
with program examples, full construction details, with illustrative pictures
etc. Its a complete robot you have to build from the ground up. Best of
all, its under $100, all parts included. We did it so that club members
could have a low-cost robot that was the same for everyone for club challenges
and future gatherings (we hope!). Go to http://clubs.yahoo.com and look
for TRCY or The Robotics Club. There are pointers to the club website from
there too.

propulsion. I uses one BS2 as it's brain. I've breadboarded a Maxim 8
channel ADC, that I hope to get finalized soon. I'm going to use it for 2-4
light sensors. I've also got a BOBIRD (Dan Cragan) design IRPD, along with 4
IR detectors that I can use with my 4 IRLEDs and a 555 for added detection.
I recently order a Sharp 12 DIRRS sensor for range finding, along with a
servo to rotate it. I also ordered a TI 1amp h-bridge to drive motors (I
don't know what for [noparse]:)[/noparse]. I've also hacked a PIR sensor from Wal-Mart I hope
to use for crude people sensing. I've got the whole thing hooked up to 4
1600mah NiCd batteries, or for lighter weight, I hook up 4 900 mah NiCds.
The chassis is made from LEGOs. I have a plethora of them [noparse]:)[/noparse]

controllable. However, they come motor, controller and all and are NOT cheap.
Since you are on a stamp list... You can use RS232 to talk to a Stamp,
use the
stamp to generate PWM to control an RC car ESC that can handle 12V input and
drive the motor that way.

Use one of the serial servo controller options. You can then use 1
line to
handle several of that style PWM. You're going to need a lot more than one
stamp for 100 I/O!

You know, I think they do carry the Scott Edwards SSCII. Also, to
answer your other
question - those will ONLY control hobby servos or devices that use the
same signals.
For instance RC car Electronic Speed Controls use the same signal as
servos to control
small voltage motors at very high currents (steady current of 20-50 Amps
and startup
draw as high as 200Amps). They are generally 4.8 to 8.4V with some
controllers able to
deal with up to 12V motors.

Where are the serial servo controllers, does Parallax carry them? About the 100
