Ken,

·· Have you guys (Parallax) decided if/when/how you are going to provide a backup of the messages from the Yahoo Group to us?· I for one am still interested.· The last message I was reading on here asks a question that was answered in the Yahoo Group not too long ago, and I was going to look it up when I realized that I hadn't heard anything about this recently.

·· If you do released the archives, what format will they be in?· I know the method everyone was recommending was MS Access format, which is fine with me, but if that's the case, I'd like to get it all in one file, if possible.

Thanks,

If I can jump in here, part of the current plan is to create a new category of fora, called Yahoo Archives. It will contain all of the messages we can retreive (50,000+ so far) split into the appropriate forums. These new read-only fora will be searchable just like the rest of the site is now.

All of the messages are in Access database format. We'll be glad to zip up what we have and post them on the Parallax FTP site as soon as conversion is completed.

Jim, hey, I hadn't realized that the messages would be available right on this system...That may in and of itself be just fine for what I need, which is to be able to refer to older posts...However, if you already have the old stuff in an Access DB format, I will still DL it, just in case...I imagine it will be quite the file in terms of size...It is in one contiguous file, I assume?

The Basic Stamps database is over 250 MB. The others are sub-20MB each, Assumptions can be dangerous, but in this situation, you are correct; one database for each group.. :)
