2X16 LCD Connections - Ribbon Cable?

I'm building the "Expansion Made Easy" Circuit demonstrating the MCP23016 (N&V May 2004) and have just purchased a Hitachi 2 X 16 LCD without wires - Question: What is the best way to connect it to my Board of Education [equipped with a BS2P].· Literally, what is the best way to soldier wires to the LCD and subsequently plug the other ends into the breadboard on the BOE.· I was thinking of purchasing some ribbon cable.· Am I on the right track or would anyone suggest anything different.

Thanks,· Bob in Jacksonville

If you're just experimenting, you may want to use 22-guage solid wire -- the stripped ends can be plugged right into your BOE. Ribbin cable is a bit tricky to deal with; and you'll have to add something to the BOE end to allow the connection

22-gauge solid wire worked great! And, I've got the N&V May 2004 up and running! Thanks, Bob
