Voltage input for BOE Board

I know that the officially the minimum voltage for external power to the Board of Education is 6V. How hard and fast is that limitation I have a 6V regulator that puts out a nominal 5.89V. Will that power the board, or do I need to swap that out?

Will probably work, although the +5V output may be a bit low (~4.9V)
