Blockly software and students

I'm trying to get my school to let me have the Blockly software installed on my set of student laptops. The legal department says that the privacy policy is not compliant with the latest Ed Law. My eyes could not roll farther back into my skull.

So I'm wondering.... do students need an actual account to use the Blockly software? Can it just be run locally and not worry about the online save feature?

If your students use the new "solo" version of Blockly, then no account (no login) is required.
You will find all the same block features, with two simple "open" and "save" choices, to load or save work locally.

You can try it here: solo.parallax.com

  • @roboTeacher Welcome to the forums! Great to have a new school onboard.

There is also another category that you can use called "Learn With BlocklyProp". You can pick that when starting a new discussion.
  • roboTeacher,

Parallax has an Education department that you can call and there is also an Education forum that you should ask access to.
