Parallax activity board WX not working properly

When I set the power switch to 1 the LED underneath it doesn't turn on......furthermore, the LED serial, which is next to the USB also doesn't turn on......However, if I set the power switch to 2 the LED underneath it turns on but I've again the USB LED doesn't turn on, so essentially my code is compiling successfully however it keeps saying it can't find it on port com3 or com5........anyone know how to fix this?

What type of computer are you using? Have you tried another USB port? Is it a USB 3 port? (Blue colored)?
