Simple-IDE_1-1-0_MacOS.pkg will not download

  Did you try downloading it through Terminal?
  
  Open a terminal, cd to some directory, and run "curl -O https://www.parallax.com/sites/default/files/downloads/Simple-IDE_1-1-0_MacOS.pkg" to download it into that directory.
  
  EDIT: Even easier: what happens if you try to save the page with the garbage from Chrome? Parallax's server is incorrectly not telling your browser that the file should be downloaded, so your browser just assumes it's a text file, which it certainly isn't, and displays it as such. If you try saving the garbage page, it might give you the correct file.
