Connectiong rfid to pc

Dear all,
I brought parallax rfid 28140 & tag 8430806 from rs components. i am trying to connect this with pc by hyperterminal i am using max232 line driver.
When i connect the enable led goes red nothing get displayed when i keep tag in front of reader my configuration is 9600-8-N-1 i tried in 2400 also but not working i am using the attached circuit please help me friends

    The schematic is correct. Could be an issue in the actual wiring. We do actually carry a USB version of the RFID Reader designed for PC use.

    Is the tag is compatible for this model, is there any other option to check the functionality of reader. Otherwise is there any option to connect to PLC.

    Well that's an interesting question. I don't know anything about the tags you got. Perhaps you should purchase a single tag from us (or a distributor) to confirm operation if you're using unknown tags. That would at least narrow it down to the tags or the reader.
  • Looks like the tag is in fact a Parallax tag.

    It is a 125 khz tag that should be compatible with the reader in question.

    The reader interface needs to be 2400 baud.

    Are you using the correct Com Port in Hyperterminal?

    Which version of windows are you running?

    The LED should only be red when the DTR line is enabled, which isn't by default when using the Parallax Serial Terminal.
